Coatings

Aqueous Coating

Aqueous Coating is a non-toxic, waterbased coat that gives the paper a slight shine and makes colors more vivid. It also deters dirt and fingerprints.

UV-Coating

UV-Coating is a high-gloss lamination that is applied to the printed sheet and dries instantly by exposure to ultraviolet light. UV-Coating improves durability (scuff and dirt resistance) and look (vibrant colors, sharper graphics) and makes for an all around sturdier product.

Note that you cannot write on UV-coated surfaces. (See below: “Writing on Coated Surfaces”.)

Paper Stocks

100 lb Gloss Book with Aqueous Coating (C2S)

100 lb Gloss Book is a medium weight paper that can be easily rolled, unlike the more rigid 100 lb Gloss Cover. It is coated on both sides with aqueous coating.
Often used for Brochures, Flyers, Catalogs, Door Hangers.

100 lb Gloss Cover with Aqueous Coating (C2S)

Similar to the 100 lb Gloss Book, but thicker and heavier. It is coated on both sides with aqueous coating.
Often used for durable, heavy Brochures, Catalog covers, Flyers, Door Hangers.

14 pt Gloss Coated Cover

Heavy gloss coated card stock.

16 pt Dull Cover with Matte Finish

A little (about 15%) thicker and heavier than 14 pt. The matte finish still provides for sharpness and vividness, but without the shiny surface. Applying UV-coating, however, will make the product very glossy.
Often used for Business Cards, Postcards, Rack Cards, Presentation Folders, Greeting Cards.

Recycled 100 lb Dull Cover with Matte Finish

Contains recovered fiber from pre- or post- consumer sources, or both.

70 lb Offset White Smooth Paper

A smooth and silky yet strong and solid paper with excellent InkJet and Laser printability.
Used for Letterhead and Notepads.

60 lb Crack and Peel Sticker Paper with UV-Coating (C1S)

These labels are cut to size (not on a roll) and include a scored peel away backing and removable adhesive. The glossy finish promotes excellent detail to complement our high quality printing. Stickers are for indoor use only.

Writing on Coated Surfaces

To make sure your handwriting stays on coated surfaces you should use permanent markers or at least ballpoint pens. We recommend to write on coated prints with permanent markers like e.g. Sharpie’s Fine Point or Ultra Fine Point Permanent Marker. They come in various colors. A standard ballpoint pen like BIC’s Cristal may also do a good job on dull covered stock, although it may dry a little bit slower depending on the ink. UV-Coating is the hardest to write on.
